Goods delivered, invoice overdue, the customer in Denmark silent. This page explains how a B2B claim is collected in Denmark, how long it takes, and which interest and costs can be charged to the debtor. Incasso Mentor sets up and runs this process on your behalf: we choose the right route, bring in the local specialist, follow every step and report to you in Turkish. You only take the decisions. Information as at September 2026.
The four figures that matter most to a Turkish exporter. Denmark is an EU member but does not use the euro; amounts are in Danish kroner (DKK). Fees and rates change; before any legal step we confirm the current figures with our partner.
Danish-language demand; interest, the DKK 310 compensation and the statutory reminder fees are claimed. A written demand with at least 10 days to pay is required before any collection step (Inkassoloven § 10). Agencies operate under an authorisation from Rigspolitiet; we work with an authorised partner or a lawyer.
Simplified procedure at the fogedretten up to DKK 100,000 (Retsplejeloven chapter 44 a): fee DKK 750, no lawyer needed. 14 days to object after service; without objection the second endorsement (2. påtegning) has the effect of a judgment and enforcement can be requested in the same application.
Ordinary proceedings at the byret; fee DKK 1,500 plus a hearing fee (DKK 3,000 for DKK 100,001–250,000, DKK 8,000 for DKK 250,001–500,000). A lawyer is not legally required; appeal to the landsret. Usually 6–12 months.
Enforcement only through the fogedretten (no private bailiffs): attachment (udlæg) of bank accounts, receivables, movables, real property, vehicles and company shares; fee DKK 750. If the debtor gives an insolvency declaration (insolvenserklæring), no new enforcement summons for 12 months. Bankruptcy at the skifteretten (Konkursloven); a creditor's petition requires security of about DKK 30,000.
Collecting a debt in a foreign country on your own is exhausting: language, law, finding the right firm, negotiating fees, not missing deadlines. This is exactly where Incasso Mentor comes in. We review your file, obtain an independent credit report on the debtor and determine the most suitable route for Denmark.
Then we set up the process: we select the authorised agency or lawyer in Denmark, hand over a complete and well-prepared file, fix the fee on your behalf in advance and follow every step. You work with one contact, in your own language. Every decision is yours; no step is taken without your approval.
You: send us the invoice, contract and delivery documents.
We: assess the file, obtain the credit report and report the route and cost to you in writing.
We: select and brief the local specialist in Denmark, fix the fee and watch the deadlines.
We: report every development in Turkish and answer your questions.
You: take the decision at every stage. Legal steps only with your approval.
€20,000 is roughly DKK 149,000, above the DKK 100,000 ceiling of the betalingspåkrav. For most of our files the route is therefore ordinary proceedings at the byret; we calculate the cost from the start and obtain a fixed quote from the lawyer.
Denmark has an opt-out from EU judicial cooperation: the European order for payment and the small claims procedure do not apply in Denmark. A Danish judgment is enforced in the EU under Brussels I-bis (2005 parallel agreement).
The amounts that can be passed on to the debtor are fixed: DKK 100 per reminder (at most 3), DKK 100 collection fee, DKK 310 B2B compensation. If the 10-day written demand is skipped, collection costs cannot be claimed from the debtor.
Unopposed betalingspåkrav: service plus 14 days to object, about 2–3 months in total; above DKK 100,000 or if defended, proceedings at the byret usually take 6–12 months; enforcement depends on the debtor's assets.
Not by law: the betalingspåkrav and the fogedretten application can be filed without a lawyer, and a party may represent itself in court. In practice, for a foreign company a lawyer or authorised agency acts because pleadings and hearings are in Danish; the decision is yours.
A Danish judgment is enforced in the EU under Brussels I-bis without extra formalities; in Turkey recognition (tenfiz) is needed, rarely relevant since the debtor's assets are usually in Denmark.
Share your invoice and the basic documents. We review the file and report the route in Denmark and the expected cost to you in writing, in Turkish; the rest we plan together. B2B, from €20,000 per debtor.
